Jellybean’s First Seven Weeks
Well, it’s hard to believe, but Jellybean turned seven weeks old this past Wednesday. He is such a big boy now and it is amazing to think that he fit in the palm of our hand just a month and a half ago. Just today, Jellybean was running and playing with Kleo and Lexx (who has really started to accept his little boy). Lexx has been gruffing and pouncing Jellybean in play – very fun to see indeed. Jellybean is eating mush (Jen whizzes some kibbles in a blender for him) and some full kibbles mixed in. It is also not uncommon to see him over by the “Big Boy” dish having some dry kibbles there (he also likes to drink out of the “Big Boy” water dish). Jellybean will also have company in the bedroom as the door (up until now) has been blocked, Jellybean and Kleo slept with Momma, and I slept downstairs with Lexx. We had read numerous reports that the father should be kept separate from the pup for the first 6 weeks due to territorial issues. This has worked quite nicely and has enabled everyone to acclimate nicely. The gate has come down now and Lexx gets to sleep in the bed again with Kleo (happy boy). Thus far, Jellybean still has the floor and his bed but I’m sure that it won’t be long before he is leaping up onto the bed with everyone else. A bigger bed may be needed 🙂 It is not uncommon on any given night for Jen and I to have Lexx, Kleo, and Meela up on the bed with us. Soon Jellybean will make 4 up with us – let the crowding begin 🙂
